Aharonov & Bohm

In 1959, Yakir Aharonov and David Bohm predicted that an electron is affected by the electromagnetic potential $\mathbf{A}$, even where $\mathbf{B}=0$.

1. Modes

Phase Mode: Colors represent the quantum phase $\varphi$ (Rainbow).

Probability Mode: Colors represent probability density $|\Psi|^2$ (Heatmap).

2. Potential Circulation

The arrows swirling on the mesh visualize the Vector Potential $\mathbf{A}$. Their circulation $\oint \mathbf{A} \cdot d\mathbf{l}$ equals the magnetic flux.

3. Detector

The green screen shows the interference pattern. Note how the particles (if enabled) bunch into the bright fringes.
